Didier Niyonizigiye the sick child
“The Good Samaritans of Burundi” is the “Mother Theresa” of Burundi. They provide social and financial assistance to children in need of surgeries that can’t be donein Burundi. Alexis Butoyi, the legal representative of the Good Samaritans, is asking for financial assistance from anyone who can help.
Akeza.net: Can you brief us on the case?
Alexis Butoyi: The child is called Didier NIYONIZEYE. He was born inGishubi, Gitega province. He was born with a heart defect. Burundian cardiologists addressed him to TheGood Samaritans who subsequently sent his medical records in France. His case was accepted and was scheduled for heart surgery in France. Didier was supposed to leave on November 11, 2015 but due to financial reasons he couldn’t leave. His parents are poor and have already sold everything they own leaving them with their house only.
Akeza.net: So the plan to transfer him to France isn’t there anymore?
Alexis Butoyi: We pleaded with the French doctors and they gave us a second chance. As of the 4th of December 2015, Didier is expected toleave for France.
Akeza.net: Will you be able to raise by then the amount that made him miss his operation the first time?
Alexis Butoyi:We kindly ask help for this family from benefactors so that Didier, who is only 5 years, can receive the cardiac care that he needs greatly.
