It was during a sales exhibition held at Palais des Arts de Bujumbura from the  16th to the  17th November 2015 that ACECI (Consultative Ethics Agency for International Cooperation) presented a range of products to protect against malaria.

Who knew it was possible to protect against malaria by using products such as soap, lotions or candles…?

These are  soaps, lotions, candles and night creams. As explained by Mrs. Pelagie Nkurikiye (receptionist at the same time saleswoman in ACECI), all these products are natural. They are made from catnip (a plant that contains oil repellent to insects. It is cultivated as a medicinal and ornamental plant and are manufactured locally.

“Our products contain an essential oil obtained after distillation basic catnip. The other ingredients are complementary, “said Pelagie

She continues, “During the preparation, there is adapted equipment we use. We obtain oil, which is used to manufacture the products you see. We do not add chemicals, “she adds.

About the use of these products

“When you wash with this soap, you can spend two hours on the veranda or in the lounge at night no mosquitoes come near you. Once lit candle, mosquitoes flee. There are emerging and others that fall in a weak position while remaining glued to the wall. ”

“When the candle is extinguished, it is advisable to enter the net for more caution.”

“The lotions contain more essential oil repelling mosquitoes than the rest of our products. They are very effective .We can use it during night crusades for example. It lasts more than two hours on the skin, “she proudly adds.

Their office is located in Bujumbura, Rohero II Avenue Mugamba, n011.
